I thought that the speed dating was very helpful for me to get feedback on my ideas, but I would like to also be able to do it again when I have a set topic. I enjoyed getting my classmate's ideas for my project and hearing their ideas for their own projects, but it was difficult because I am unsure of my topic at the moment. I mainly shared my ideas for the solar panels on our roof, because I think that is the most approachable and logical idea of mine right now. Johammie gave me good advice that although have my plan set, I should think about what my overall goals are and what good the solar panels on the roof would do for the community. Molly said that I should look into the cost of putting the solar panels in the fields vs. the rooftops, and the differences (if any) of energy production in the two places. Evan O'Rourke and Stephen both said that their moms work at GMP and I could talk to them for more info on energy and economic savings. Stephen also said I should look into the plan for the solar field at the old landfill and see what kind of waste it has produced. Also I will look into what the potential for it will be regarding our school. Allie Wolf gave me some advice that I should educate others that there is indeed energy being produced by the sun in the winter, contrary to many people's beliefs. Masha made a point that the structure of our building might not even be able to support the solar panels. With all of their help, I now have a better direction in where to go with this project. They all thought it was a good idea and would like to see it implemented. For my peers, I offered a lot of good advice. I questioned them about their final product an how their projects with help the community, getting them thinking more about the physical process of their ideas. I also remember offering a lot of helpful hints as to how to collect data for their research, and giving them names of people in which they can connect with. Overall, I think that the speed dating was very beneficial to everyone that put even a little bit of effort into it.
