My third idea is related to energy innovation within our school. To do this, I will contact the city engineer and the SameSun solar company to see what they think about putting in solar panels on our roof and the logistics of it all. I will also contact the owner of Alderman's Toyota in Rutland to see how they went about going completely energy efficient. I will then talk to the mayor about the decisions made of putting in so many solar panel fields when there are large infrastructures here in town that could have solar panels implemented on the roofs. With the environmental club, I will also work to get the school to start composting. This is very important for the environment. We constantly throw all of our food away when we could be giving it all back to the land. We will also try to get rid of the styrofoam plates and plastic silverware in the lunchroom and get completely compostable plates instead. Hopefully, this will then work its way down through all of the Rutland Public Schools, and save tons of room in the landfills. All of these issues are important because it effects future generations for years to come. With the solar panels in the fields, useful garden space is begin taken up, along with affecting our oxygen and carbon dioxide transfer with the plant life that is covered up by the solar panels.
