For my first idea, I want to find out what kind of drink or food gives people the most energy for a game or practice. To do this, I will use a digital multimeter to measure the electrolytes in each substance, and then test the impacts on a large group and see what level of electrolytes has the best, most steady impact on teens during a sports game. Some people use gatorade, powerade, water, caffeine, and even honey for energy. However, I hope to find out which really has the best overall effect for a sports game, particularly at the high school level. After measuring the electrolytes and other nutrition information in the different substances, I will use 10 different candidates and test out the result of each substance. I will give each of 5 substances to 2 people everyday, and monitor the results. Everyday I will switch the people that consume each substance, to make sure not to base the reaction off of just 2 people. Energy is a problem for many high school students. After long school days and short amounts of sleep, we have no energy left to play in a game. I face this problem a lot, and it would be great if I could find an easy, healthy solution to this.
